Georgetown County Council accepted a staff recommendation on Oct. 22 to grant an appeal for fire-impact fees for Solar Projects Lambert 1 and 2, setting the fee at $1,008,022.65, which staff said represents roughly half the usual amount for a comparable construction project.
The county administrator described the appeal as driven by the projects’ specialized equipment requirements and said staff had coordinated with the fire department and emergency management to estimate $775,000 in necessary equipment. "Due to the specialized nature of this project and the equipment that will be needed on-site, staff has concurred with this appeal and are recommending that we accept the $1,008,022.65," the administrator said.
Council moved and carried acceptance of the recommendation. Staff said the remaining portion of the typical fee would be directed to capital equipment and facilities consistent with county ordinance.
