Council reallocates $978,250 in ARPA funds to meet federal deadline

Georgetown County Council voted to reallocate $978,250 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding on Oct. 22, directing money to several projects staff said will meet the federal 12/31/2024 expenditure deadline.
The county administrator presented Resolution No. 24-37 and described planned uses: purchasing equipment, digitizing records in the register of deeds office, completing water projects, increasing fire protection in a specific PDE area and completing home repairs through Habitat for Humanity. "All these project expenditures will meet the requirements of ARPA, and we will be in compliance," the administrator said.
Council moved and adopted the resolution without further amendment. Staff said the reallocation is intended to ensure eligible uses are funded before the federal deadline and that the projects align with ARPA rules.
