Dr. Luis Aguirre, speaking on En Sinton—fa, urged listeners to prioritize sleep, physical activity and healthy nutrition as foundational steps for physical and mental well-being.
On sleep, Aguirre explained its restorative role for blood pressure regulation, tissue repair and brain processes and recommended regular bedtimes and 7 to 9 hours per night when possible. "Lo ideal, que por lo menos 30 minutos antes de irnos a dormir, debemos dejar de estar expuestos a los m—3viles..." he said, recommending a screen-free wind-down period.
On physical activity, Aguirre emphasized accessible options (walking, dancing, gardening, using stairs) rather than obligatory gym attendance, and he linked regular movement to reduced chronic disease risk. He highlighted a local program called Bailemos con Zumba (led by Daisy de Le—3n) as an example of an inclusive community activity.
On nutrition, Aguirre recommended fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and low-fat dairy; he cautioned against processed foods with added sugars and high salt content and advised reading labels for calcium and vitamin D.
Aguirre also announced new parent education groups for children with asthma starting Feb. 1 and invited listeners to register by calling 240-401-0487.
