The Knox County Beer Board voted Jan. 26 to approve an on-premise beer license for the Residence Inn by Marriott Knoxville — Cedar Bluff, 215 Langley Place (District 3), contingent on the hotel providing a certificate of occupancy.
Applicant Sanjay Patel of Farragut answered routine licensing questions from law department staff, confirming the application is accurate, that he and his partners (listed as Vijay and Vimal Patel) have no relevant convictions and that the hotel previously sold beer at the location but has no outstanding license. Patel said he personally has not completed server training but that his general manager and serving staff have completed required training.
County codes and the fire marshal reported no objections. The clerk’s office noted the health department must be informed about the change of ownership; Patel said health staff had visited the property as part of liquor-license preparations and that he would follow up as requested.
District Commissioner Oster moved to approve the license pending receipt of a certificate of occupancy; the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. The board asked the applicant to submit required documentation to the clerk’s office so the license can be finalized.
