New Rochelle civil service commission approves revised job spec, extends eligible lists and schedules Feb. 7 exams

The New Rochelle Municipal Civil Service Commission met Wednesday and approved a revision to the job specification for the position read in the transcript as “traffic shot foreman,” moved to broaden the pool of eligible applicants.
Commission staff read a set of eligible lists proposed for extension, including assistant custodian (listed in the reading as number 2690, later flagged for correction to 2609), director of public information (2610), police captain (2603), police lieutenant (2602), police officer (2665), recreation leader (2607) and recreation supervisor (2608), each with expiration dates through 2027 as read aloud by staff. A commission member said staff would "double check the number" for the assistant custodian list and reflect the correction in the minutes.
An unidentified commission member moved to accept the Dec. 17, 2025 meeting minutes "as written," a second was recorded and the commission approved the minutes on the record.
Commission staff announced exams scheduled for Feb. 7 for deputy fire chief and fire chief and said that results were expected "within the next month or 2," at which point newly established lists would replace the extended lists. Staff also clarified that the Feb. 7 exam location was changed from the Rotunda to "B1." The commission set its next meeting for Feb. 25 at 3:30 p.m.
The meeting closed at 3:40 p.m. after a motion and second to adjourn.
