Caldwell County approves advertising tax liens, accepts consent agenda including grants and salary adjustments

During the consent agenda the county manager presented several items for approval: two state cybersecurity grants (one for $200,000 and another for $128,000, no local match required), a $60,000 Forest Service award request for Wilson's Creek equipment, a jury commission payout totaling $750 (three members at $250 each per statute), a web-accessibility contract (approx. $9,086.60), conveyance of a decommissioned 2018 Ford Explorer (153,994 miles) to Foothills Medical Transit Company for $4,000, and authorization for the Soil and Water Conservation District to apply for STRAP stream-restoration funding with a potential cap around $1,496,250.
The board also approved a requested 5% salary increase for several Sheriff's Department pay codes effective Feb. 1 for a remaining fiscal-year cost of about $224,000. The consent agenda, moved by a commissioner and presented by the county manager, was adopted by unanimous voice vote.
What happens next: staff will proceed with advertising tax liens and will execute consent-agenda contracts and grant applications as approved; the board then entered closed session under N.C. Gen. Stat. 143-318.11(a)(4).
