Members raised multiple reservations before the vote: they questioned whether the grant’s scale and intended uses were the best fit for Woodside (which several members described as not heavily residential), and raised maintenance concerns — staff estimated that landscaping changes could add roughly 5.5 acres of additional grass to mow. Speaker 1 said that if the grant could be applied to higher-priority roads, "publicly it'd be a lot better to see it go into those things." Speaker 3 noted engineering would need to clarify ADA routing and trail alignment issues before moving forward.
The committee’s vote declines only to provide an advisory letter of support; it does not itself approve or deny the underlying engineering plan or any grant application submitted by the City or engineering department. Staff will relay the committee’s position back to engineering and the mayor’s office.
