Dickinson County approves CDBG grant for downtown 'Rural Rentals' project

The county’s contract reviewer (participating online) said the contract documents are “pretty self explanatory” and available for commissioners’ review. Commissioners praised community investors for committing time and money to downtown, and one commissioner asked the project team to return with updates on bids and construction scheduling.
A motion to accept the CDBG project grant and approve the associated grant agreements was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board’s action authorizes county staff to finalize the agreements and proceed with project administration under the terms of the grant. Commissioners said they will monitor progress and asked to be invited to any public openings or tours once construction is underway.
Next steps: staff will finalize paperwork with the project team and continue monitoring the bid and construction timeline; commissioners requested periodic updates in future study sessions and meetings.
