STS staff outlines vehicle deliveries, multimodal study and FY27 grant timeline

STS staff reported operational updates and upcoming planning work at the Transportation Advisory Committee's first quarterly meeting.
Allison, representing St. Mary's Transit (STS), told the committee STS is in the process of ordering vehicles: one vehicle is expected to be delivered in February; FY25 vehicle orders currently lack delivery dates; and vehicles awarded under FY26 grants are expected to be ordered in the next month or so. "We should have 1, delivered next month in February," Allison said.
She described a forthcoming multimodal study in partnership with the Calvert–St. Mary's Metropolitan Planning Organization to evaluate routes, unserved areas and STS services. Allison estimated the study would take about six months before yielding recommendations.
Allison also briefed the committee on the FY27 grant application timeline: Part 1 is due next week (Friday) and Part 2 is due in March. She said the agency has completed a bus stop and shelter project and is modernizing ridership data by using county cell phones and the GIS department to record boardings and alightings to help future planning.
Committee members asked about the current status of the Transit Development Plan and who will serve as the MPO coordinator for an upcoming working group; Allison volunteered to follow up and coordinate with the group scheduled on Monday.
