The Village of Jackson Board of Public Works on Jan. 27 recommended that the Budget & Finance Committee and Village Board approve purchase of a new brush chipper from Vermeer of Wisconsin for $88,273, using the state/sourcewell contract price.
A board member (Speaker 3) moved the recommendation; the motion was recorded as "Motion by Engelhardt, second by Kripke." Staff noted the quote is based on the state price and includes a caveat that final price may depend on the Sourcewell bid at time of delivery. Staff said the quote was valid through the February board meeting and expected to be locked in if approved by committee and board. The old chipper is slated for sale via Wisconsin Surplus Auction with an estimated return to capital equipment of approximately $20,000–$25,000.
Board members discussed coordinating equipment purchases with neighboring municipalities to seek better pricing through group bids. The motion to recommend purchase passed by voice vote.
