The Weber School District Board approved a series of routine and substantive items Tuesday, including the proposed 2026-27 school calendar, the Title IX report, multiple donor naming resolutions for school food pantries and several policy revisions.
Rob Lake presented the second reading of the proposed 2026-27 calendar (option 2) and the board approved it; the option moves the teacher report date later and sets Aug. 24 as the first day of school. "Out of the two options, option number 2 was the option that the majority of people preferred," Lake said before the voice vote.
The board reviewed the Title IX participation and spending summary for 2024-25, noting overall participation counts and per-athlete spending at high schools and junior highs. The board approved the Title IX report by voice vote.
The board also approved a set of naming resolutions recognizing donor support for food pantries and teen centers: Coach Electrical & Instrumentation (Westfield High and Roy Junior High), Wasatch Peaks Credit Union (Fremont High), Bruce and Susie Nilsen family (Bonneville High), and Best Realty Group (Weber High). Emily (Weber School Foundation / executive director) described the donor-funded endowment work supporting the pantries and said the foundation is close to its $500,000 endowment goal.
On policy matters, the board approved amendments to policy 4,200 (school fees and fee waiver) and 4,500 (extracurricular activities) on second readings, and approved several first readings and revisions including the facilities use rules (policy 2240), a new policy 7,250 on public education-related activities, and staff and student acceptable use policies (83.10 and 83.20). The board also acknowledged completion of an annual fraud risk assessment.
Most votes were taken by voice and recorded as "Aye" with no opposing voice recorded in the transcript; no recorded roll-call tallies were provided.
What's next: The approved calendar and policies will be posted per district practice; the district will proceed with implementation steps for policy changes and the named food pantries will be recognized according to board resolutions.
