Calvert County commissioners adopted two budget amendments to align the county’s capital improvement plan for the Ward Farm Recreation & Nature Park with state CROP (Calvert County Youth Recreational Opportunity Fund) balances and the project’s multi‑year scope.
Amanda Stilwagen, parks and recreation division chief, said the amended application reflects a total estimated project cost of $17,157,424 and requests $11,422,653 in state CROP contributions. The amendments reallocate state grant revenue to architecture/engineering and construction accounts and increase the project’s recognized state grant amount by $5,735,985 to match official state balances. Staff reported that recent construction work passed compaction testing and that crews were preparing disturbed areas for the storm.
The board adopted the two budget amendments and closed the record. Staff said the amendments do not affect the county general fund and will support continued construction, including proactive replacement of a well to support future park growth.
