Jennifer Moreland said the county received six applications for opioid-related programs totaling roughly $309,000 in requests; staff recommended funding three applicants immediately and establishing a county‑managed training fund to cover opioid readiness training for law enforcement, detention staff and first responders. The staff-recommended awards total about $154,500 for FY26 and would be allocated via a budget amendment; staff said no county general funds are required.
The board closed the public record and adopted the budget amendment and the award recommendations, authorizing staff to proceed with awarding funds. Staff emphasized evidence‑based practices and said final disbursements will follow financial review and execution of grant agreements.
