Villa Park board approves engineering agreement for Adams/Frank resurfacing and fence installation at police lot

At the Jan. 26 meeting the Village Board approved two separate resolutions after brief staff presentations and trustee discussion.

The first resolution authorized the village manager to execute an engineering services agreement with Edwin Hancock Engineering Company of Westchester, Illinois for phase 1 and phase 2 engineering on the Adams and Frank Street resurfacing project. Manager Rivas described the project limits (Adams Street from Ardmore Avenue to Summit Avenue; Frank Street from Summit Avenue to Grant Avenue) and stated an amount not to exceed $46,875. The motion passed on a roll‑call vote.

The second resolution approved a contract with Bayer Construction Company for the installation of security fencing at 40 S. Ardmore (the police department parking lot). Manager Rivas said staff identified concerns around pedestrian safety, unauthorized access and prisoner transport staging; the project was presented as enhancing site security during lower visibility hours. Trustees discussed funding and grant reimbursement; the manager said the project would be reimbursed under an existing grant program once completed. The contract amount was stated not to exceed $65,546 and the board approved the measure by roll call.

Both approvals were recorded as motions with roll‑call votes and carried. Trustees signaled support for improved public safety and site security; no amendments or failed motions were recorded.
