District presents college‑and‑career readiness update highlighting AP completion gains and career pathways pilots

Johnson outlined a holistic framework that pairs academic readiness with skills such as self‑regulation and career navigation. Dr. Bouley reported a 9% increase in advanced placement and early‑college completion from 2022 to 2025 and noted an upward trend in AP/coursework completion. MyCAP (career and academic planning) completion across grades 9–12 was reported at roughly 52%.
The presenters said the district's FAFSA completion rate has improved and now mirrors the state submission percentage for the first time in four years; the district aims for a 62% completion target for the year. The presentations included early results from three Innovation Career Pathways programs: Central High's newly designated pathway (49 students enrolled in the first semester), Renaissance (expected to grow toward 50 next year), and a longstanding Conservatory pathway in its sixth year.
District staff said partners—Project Lead The Way, Spark Photonics (grant through Intel), Springfield Works and other business partners—are supporting curricular development and pilot projects, including plans for a photonics lab at Central. The district also plans to use AV and translation funds (discussed elsewhere on the agenda) to improve communication with multilingual families.
Committee members thanked the presenters; vice chair and others praised results and outreach work. The presentation closed with an invitation to continue expanding career pathways and industry partnerships.
