Kershaw County Sheriff's Foundation outlines fundraising, equipment support for deputies

Benjie (Benjie Jackson), chair of the Kershaw County Sheriff's Foundation, presented the foundation’s annual report to the Kershaw County Council on Jan. 27, describing its mission, activities and ongoing fundraising priorities.
Jackson said the foundation — a 501(c)(3) formed in 2011 — supports unfunded needs of the sheriff’s office, listing past purchases including bulletproof vests, patrol-car and deputy body cameras, service dogs, training costs, puncture-resistant gloves and awards for deputies and community supporters. "We are ... a charitable organization established in 2011 and ... to support the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office on their unfunded mandates," Jackson said.
He said the group is raising money for a memorial honoring law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty and expected to share more public details and media notices in coming weeks. Council members and attendees thanked the foundation and recognized board member Kathy Zobel; members took photographs to mark the presentation.
Members praised the foundation’s role supporting deputies and community programs. No formal action — beyond recognition and a presentation vote to hear the group — was taken.
