The Whitley County engineer updated the drainage board on progress at the Snyder J site, a nontax drain off 700 South near County Line, saying Allen County indicated it was willing to proceed with converting the drain to a tax drain and to run preliminary calculations for potential assessments.
The engineer told the board that although Allen County will work through the procedural calculations, Whitley County would not initiate a public hearing on the conversion until the county had an actual open repair application. The engineer also reported contact with property owners (the Emmerichs) and noted outstanding questions about a nearby event center development that could affect drainage planning.
In other operations updates, staff reported completion of work at the Glick Hauenstein site and ongoing tile and stone deliveries for previously approved projects. The operations speaker said several ditches will require long‑reach equipment and that staff will continue to coordinate with highway crews on culvert replacements where appropriate.
The board had no further public comment and adjourned.
