Jefferson County commissioners approve five-year port lease, award paving contract and OK online payment portal

Jefferson County commissioners on Jan. 22 moved through several routine and procurement items, approving minutes, vouchers and payroll, electing a board president and approving multiple contracts and agreements by voice vote.
On facilities, a county presenter (Annie) recommended renewing the county’s port service lease for five years because no suitable alternate office space was available; commissioners approved the five-year lease after a motion and second. Annie noted the offered renewal would increase monthly rent from $4,600 to $5,000 under the shorter option; the five-year term was selected to provide space stability.
On roadwork, the county presented low bids for four County Construction and Maintenance Grant (CCMG) projects. Bids reported were: All Star Paving $789,988.50 and Mac Construction $842,008.63; the lowest bid—$688,600 for the four projects—was from Dave O'Meara Contractor. Commissioners moved to accept the lowest bidder and approved awarding the contract to Dave O'Meara Contractor by voice vote.
The board approved an implementation, hosting and maintenance agreement for an online payment portal for the treasurer’s office; county attorney Pat McGrath had reviewed the terms and commissioners voted to approve the agreement.
