The Grant County Drainage Board set a public hearing for March 31 to consider Bird's Tile after staff warned the assessment roll may be incomplete because the project could remove some properties from the roll.
Members discussed whether to delay until the assessment role is updated, and staff explained the practical effects of removing parcels that may be taken off the roll after project completion. The board moved to set the hearing for March 31 and then voted to propose rates of $20 per acre, $50 per home site, $50 per parcel and $150 for commercial structures with a $50 minimum for the year term. Members said the proposed rates would increase the yearly assessment from roughly $638.83 to an estimated $7,720.60 under the higher-rate scenario presented.
The board recorded the motion and carried it by voice vote. Staff will publish required notices for the hearing and provide updated assessment rolls if they become available prior to the hearing.
