The department also announced a planned retirement in March and that recruitment for an officer vacancy will begin, with interviews anticipated in February.
EMS staff reported year‑end service described in the meeting as "11 99" calls for service and said the service expects to average about 120–130 calls per month with the newly added territory. EMS also described outreach open houses, a full EMT class, and the imminent installation of power‑load devices on ambulances paid for through FAP funding to improve patient handling.
Both departments referenced recent and pending grant activity: the police reported a video grant submission currently acknowledged by the grantor, and both police and EMS have applied for radio grant funding to support communications upgrades (one grant provides up to $50,000 in equipment funding as described in committee discussion). The committee was advised that each agency must submit its own radio grant application per the grant rules.
