The Select Board discussed a proposed three‑year extension of the town's 2025 paving contract with Roundy Paving during its Jan. 27 meeting. Highway Superintendent Jason Finley and other members said the contractor's rates were competitive and that locking in rates could produce savings over the next three years.
Town Manager Nick recommended adding a municipal funding clause to protect the town in future years if funding is unavailable or if the town elected a different paving approach. "When I reviewed the original contract, it was basic ... I would suggest you just amend your motion to include ... the municipal funding clause," Nick said.
Select Board Member Amber amended the motion to add the clause; the amendment was seconded and the board voted in favor. Board members noted that past town experience and vendor comparisons support the decision, and that the third year of the extension would be especially valuable if priced as proposed.
