Davidson High robotics honored; superintendent proclaims January 2026 School Board Recognition Month

Coach Mike Fletcher thanked the district and said travel expenses were aided by Dr. Melody Tucker’s travel funds. Fletcher described the competition as an eight-week challenge and emphasized the educational value: "The real benefit from this competition is the engineering design process, the experience working as a company, designing things, overcoming problems, using teamwork," he said, adding that those skills transfer to college and the workforce.
Principal Jason Richardson and multiple students on the team were named and recognized from the dais. The board also received a proclamation read on behalf of Superintendent Threadgill declaring January 2026 as School Board Recognition Month for Mobile County Public Schools; the proclamation noted the district is governed by five board members and serves about 50,000 students and 7,000 teachers and employees.
The recognition segment concluded with congratulations from board members and moved the meeting into regular agenda business.
