This week in Beaufort County: Bluffton stormwater workshop, Gullah Celebration, Restaurant Week and more

A series of community events were announced on the county's local broadcast.

The Town of Bluffton will hold a quarterly workshop at 5:00 p.m. tonight in the Henry E. McCracken Junior Council Chambers at 20 Bridge Street. The host said the workshop's agenda includes discussion of a proposed ordinance addressing definitions and standards for stormwater design; the broadcast did not include the text of the proposed ordinance or a timeline for formal action.

BCTV will air high-school basketball featuring the Bridges Prep Buccaneers and the Whale Branch Warriors. The host said the girls' game tips at 6:00 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m., and named Jovan Livingston as the game announcer. The broadcast said the game will be simulcast on Beaufort County TV's YouTube channel.

Cultural and community events were also highlighted: the 30th annual Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration runs through Feb. 28 and is hosted by the Native Island Business and Community Affairs Association; a full schedule is available on the celebration's website. The Hilton Head Island Bluffton Chamber of Commerce's Restaurant Week runs Feb. 1'7, with more than 80 local restaurants participating and a kickoff event on Jan. 29 at Rollers Wine and Spirits. The Chamber Ball is scheduled for Feb. 7 at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa; tickets are available through the Chamber.
