The board announced a unanimous resolution forming a Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) to advise on projects that could appear on a county transportation sales tax referendum. A meeting schedule and appointee list were read into the record.
An unnamed board speaker read municipal and district appointments: City of Beaufort appointee Grady Woods; Town of Port Royal appointee Gary Freeman; Town of Bluffton appointee Lisa Salka; Town of Hilton Head appointee Glenn Stanford; and district appointees Joseph Klein (D1), Paul Trask (D2), Anthony Jones (D3), Elizabeth Sanders (D4), Jerry Reeves (D5), Craig Forrest (D6), Bill Rickett (D7), Joy Coe (D8), Matt Harden (D9), Charles Perry (D10), and Jennifer Erickson (D11).
The TAC will meet starting Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at county offices (100 Reebok Road) to prioritize candidate projects and prepare recommendations for county council, with an eye to forming a referendum in November. Board members emphasized that the TAC is citizen‑led (no elected officials on the committee) and discussed a recommended separate citizen oversight committee to monitor implementation should the referendum pass.
Next step: staff said they will share exact times and meeting materials with board members and coordinate public meetings and outreach once the TAC’s schedule is set.
