The Clawson Planning Commission elected Greg Kucera chair at its Jan. 13, 2026 regular meeting, filling the commission's annual officer posts for the year.
Nick, the commission staff member who ran the process, explained nominations are called three times before a roll-call vote. Commissioners nominated Glenn Shepherd, Greg Kucera and Lou Sampson for chair. After separate roll-call votes the commission recorded 3 yes and 6 no for Shepherd and 6 yes and 3 no for Kucera; following those tallies commissioners proceeded to the vice chair and secretary votes.
For vice chair, Mister Carpenter, Mister Shepherd and Mister Noushay were nominated. By the commission's procedural vote-counting (members can vote for only one of multiple nominees where applicable), Mister Carpenter prevailed and was confirmed as vice chair. Mister Sampson was subsequently confirmed as secretary in a roll-call vote.
The chair and other officers will serve one-year terms and hold office until their successors are elected, per the commission's bylaws. The new officers assumed their roles immediately at the meeting.
