Survey: reckless driving tops public-safety concerns in South Ogden, city contractor shows

Kevin Lyons presented FlashVotes survey results to the council, saying the city’s public‑safety panel survey collected 304 responses and that reckless driving emerged as the most-cited safety concern.
On interactions with the Ogden Police Department, Lyons said respondents selected whether they had contact and if they were treated professionally or unprofessionally; he summarized a ratio of roughly “28% to 3%,” which he described as about a 10‑to‑1 ratio of professional to unprofessional treatment in the dataset. Lyons also said roughly two-thirds of household victimizations in the prior 12 months were not reported to police and that 41% of respondents volunteered open‑ended suggestions for improvement.
Councilors asked for district breakdowns and how to access the interactive dashboard; Lyons demonstrated district-level filtering in the FlashVotes interface and said the data are public and can be filtered without logging in. Lyons recommended targeted outreach by district for follow-up analysis.
A council member noted the high professionalism score for District 2 and another said the results made them “want to move to Ogden.” Staff said they would share the FlashVotes link and panel invitation with council.
