Summary
The council unanimously adopted the consent calendar and agreed to affix eight signatures to a PSRC letter supporting Gov. Jay Inslee's (referenced as Governor Ferguson in testimony) bond proposal to fund three hybrid/electric ferries, with Councilmember Kettle declining to sign.
After closing public comment, the Seattle City Council moved promptly into business. Council President Joy Hollingsworth moved to adopt the consent calendar, which included the minutes of Jan. 20, 2026 and Council Bill 121156 (payment of the bills). The motion was seconded and adopted by roll-call vote, recorded as nine in favor and none opposed. The clerk was directed to affix the president’s signature to the minutes and legislation.
Later in the meeting, Councilmember Rivera presented a Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) request that local elected officials sign a letter in support of a state bond proposal to allocate $1,100,000,000 for three hybrid or electric ferries to replace aging vessels. Rivera explained the online signature process; the clerk then called a roll to determine which council members wished to have their signatures affixed. Eight council members agreed; Councilmember Kettle declined. Rivera said the deputy clerks would follow up to add signatures to the online letter.
Councilmembers asked no substantive changes to the items and no additional committee reports were presented. The council adjourned with the next meeting scheduled for Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.
