The Johnson County Planning Commission elected Greg Wolf as chair and Tim Oreck as vice chair at its Jan. 27 meeting after staff moved the annual officer elections earlier on the agenda due to the chair’s absence.
Craig Connell nominated Wolf for chair and Tim Wark seconded the nomination. A roll-call vote was held and the motion passed. Commissioners then moved to elect a vice chair; Andrew Logan seconded the nomination of Tim Oreck and the motion passed.
After the elections, Wolf presided over the remainder of the agenda, opening a public hearing on proposed short-term rental regulations. Wolf remarked on the informal side of chairing, saying, "I always like to say when you get these things, it's like entering a pie eating contest, winning it, and what you win is more pie." The commission recorded appreciation for volunteer service and discussed minor procedural matters including meeting start times and the possibility of providing a light pre-meeting supper to encourage attendance.
The commission requested staff circulate the Board of County Commissioners’ memo on related zoning items at least a week before the Feb. 24 meeting to allow commissioners time to review the board’s directives. The meeting adjourned following director reports and scheduling discussion.
