Committee defers bill that would favor construction bidders using electric vehicles amid infrastructure questions

Witnesses and members acknowledged they lacked specific answers about charging infrastructure for off-site construction equipment and about end-of-life battery handling. One senator recalled that, when leading energy policy discussions years earlier, that industry guidance and disposal capacity for EV batteries were limited.
Because of those unresolved infrastructure and lifecycle questions and some expressed opposition, the committee chose to defer the bill. No roll-call vote recording adoption of the bill occurred during the hearing.
