Horry County Council approved an amendment to the reconsidered Resolution R-71-20-25 to increase the county's authorized negotiation amount from $6,000,000 to $8,250,000.
County staff member Barry explained the amendment as a response to a counter from the City of Myrtle Beach, saying, "this amendment... would increase the amount that the county has authorized for our consideration in these negotiations from 6,000,000 to 8,250,000." Council discussion confirmed the increase was a counter to a counteroffer from the city. The amendment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The transcript records the amended authorization and that it passed on a voice vote; it does not contain a roll-call tally or further negotiation terms on the record. Staff will pursue negotiations under the newly authorized limit.
