Members pressed staff and each other on the sustainability of the county’s $50 road fee, asking when that fee would no longer cover maintenance needs if inflation continues. One committee member said prior analysis showed the fee could be sufficient for roughly three to four years before costs overtake revenue from the flat fee. Staff and the attorney deferred a legal question about charging higher fees for out-of-state vehicle tags to state practice; a committee member said the state already handles out-of-state tag charges.
