The Syracuse Common Council unanimously approved a resolution to temporarily designate the intersection of West Brighton and Webster Avenue as 'Donna Reese Way' in honor of Donna Reese’s decades of civic and disability-rights advocacy.
Councilor Jones Rausser introduced the resolution, reciting Reese’s community contributions, leadership in the Syracuse NAACP and disability-access work (SEG 499–556). A family member, identifying as Dwayne, thanked the council and noted the legacy connections between Reese and Van Robinson; he described the naming as part of a continued community effort (SEG 571–606). Councilor Jones Rausser announced the street sign will be installed on Feb. 27 (time to be determined) (SEG 608–611). The council adopted the item by unanimous vote (SEG 614–619).
The designation is described in the resolution as a temporary street naming to honor Reese’s lifetime of civic service and advocacy. The action schedules a public commemoration tied to the installation of signage.
