The Strategic Initiatives Committee voted to forward a Senior Resource Center (SRC) proposal to the Village Board for consideration. The motion to proceed with the proposal and submit the initiative carried on a voice vote; recorded ayes were noted in the transcript but no roll-call tally appears.
Becca (presenter, speaker 7) told trustees that two proposals had been considered and that the board had previously excluded proposals requiring non–zoning-approved uses. The SRC proposal repurposes the former North Shore health department space and includes modifications and responses to packet questions on funding and timetable. Elizabeth Price, introduced in the packet as the SRC director, attended to answer questions.
Elizabeth Price described the proposal as the culmination of a long effort: "We've been trying to get more space for 20 plus years," she said, characterizing the opportunity to repurpose the space as a viable, community-serving use that increases usable community space and capabilities. Trustees expressed general support: one trustee said it was a "good use of the site," and another moved to proceed with submitting the initiative to the Village Board.
The committee’s action directs staff to include the proposal in materials for the Village Board’s review. Any final approval, funding decisions, or lease/space modifications will require subsequent board action and appropriate budget approvals.
