Jeff, an engineer presenting the program, said the borough continues to rely on its 2020 road assessments and proposed paving Conway Avenue (the 100–400 blocks), Stewart and other identified segments. "So we still use our road assessments from Benoni in 2020," he said, and described a scope that includes roughly 0.57 miles of roadway, 10 ADA ramps and replacement of 15 manhole lids and frames.
Staff noted the borough set aside $225,000 in the highway fund for the program; the engineering firm’s current estimate was $272,000, while committee members recalled prior estimates and final bids that exceeded projections (past recommended amounts cited at $300,000 with a final price previously reaching $347,000). Committee members emphasized that estimates can rise during procurement and asked staff to prepare conservative bid documents.
An unnamed committee member moved to recommend the paving list to council; the chair called the voice vote and the committee approved the recommendation to forward the program for council action.
The committee requested that staff include the recommended scope, revised cost estimates, and a timeline for bid release in the materials sent to council, and to flag any ADA ramp work required for specific corners. Staff said public works and the consultant will prepare the official bid package once the committee’s recommendation is transmitted.
The program now proceeds to the borough council for final authorization and appropriation of funds.
