House panel advances bill allowing Saint Clair County day program staff to join teacher retirement

The proposal, Hill said, covers a DYS-licensed day program that serves up to about 75 young people and provides education, substance-abuse and mental-health supports in partnership with local schools and agencies. "The purpose of this bill is to let every employee for in the Saint Clair County Day system to be allowed to join the teacher retirement system," Hill said.
Representative Faulkner moved that the committee give the bill a favorable report; Representative Baker seconded the motion. The committee approved the measure by voice vote and the bill was reported favorably to the next stage.
No fiscal note or specific funding change for the retirement system was discussed on the record during the committee deliberation. The committee did not record roll-call vote tallies; the outcome was recorded in the hearing as a favorable report by voice vote.
