DuPage hearing continued on Radcliffe Lodge subdivision after petitioner retains counsel

Chairman Robert Cartel continued the public hearing on the Radcliffe Lodge subdivision after the petitioner informed the board that an attorney had been newly retained and requested more time to prepare.
The hearing, which centers on a petition to reduce required lot frontage for four new well-and-septic lots from 100 feet to roughly 70–75 feet, was scheduled for continuation to March 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the same room. "We will continue the matter, till March 19 at 06:00 in this room," Cartel said when announcing the new date.
A nearby resident, Devon Goodrick, who identified her address as 5 South 530 Radcliffe Road and said she is "adjacent to the Southern Lot," told the board she opposes the variance. Goodrick described the neighborhood's rezoning history and argued the requested frontage reduction effectively amounts to a rezoning. "My opinion is that that's a rezoning," she said, adding that lots in the area historically had about 125 feet of frontage and that the proposed four narrow lots would be inconsistent with the character of surrounding properties.
Goodrick told the panel she traveled from out of state to speak, explained that several houses were built after the earlier rezoning, and submitted a quarter-section map plus 16 photographs to the record to illustrate lot frontages and the pattern of existing homes. The board accepted the photos and maps as exhibits.
Board members acknowledged the inconvenience to those who attended for the scheduled hearing but said they typically grant a first continuance when new counsel has been retained. The chair said anyone unable to attend the March 19 date may appear by Zoom or submit written comments for the record.
The continuation means the board took no final action on the variance at this meeting. The next procedural step is the resumed public hearing on March 19 at 6:00 p.m., when the petitioner or counsel may present additional materials and the board will revisit the request.
