Edward Vowles confirmed to Doyle Field Commission

Edward Vowles, a lifelong Leominster resident who currently works for the city Department of Public Works maintaining Doyle Field, was unanimously appointed to the Doyle Field Commission on Jan. 29.
Brandon Robbins, serving as chair of the Ways and Means Committee that heard Vowles' interview, told the council Vowles had described his day-to-day work at Doyle Field and recommended his appointment. Vowles told the committee, “Doyle Field has means a lot to me. I take a lot of pride in it.”
Council members who spoke in support noted Vowles' experience maintaining the field and his continuity with past volunteers and staff. One councilor said Vowles had effectively filled the day-to-day role since the prior longtime worker stepped down; Vowles said replacing the turf is the next major maintenance project.
The council recorded a unanimous roll-call vote to confirm the appointment; the order moves Vowles' term to expire April 15, 2029. Vowles told the council he appreciated being asked to serve and planned to continue the current care and maintenance of Doyle Field.
The appointment was taken up by the Ways and Means Committee and advanced to the full council for confirmation the same evening. No additional conditions or amendments were noted.
