Council praises public works and marks completion of dispatch move amid cold snap

The administration also announced the dispatch move to 9-1-1 is complete and described the transition as smooth: “It went off seamlessly. The state said it was the smoothest move they've ever taken part in,” a staff representative said, and the administration publicly thanked Will Reed, Chief Jagers and Chief Brown.
Council members urged residents to check on neighbors and highlighted cold-weather public-safety concerns, noting recent fire-related deaths in the community and emphasizing the importance of smoke detectors. One council member described a smoke-detector installation signup that uses a QR code; staff reported about 28 people had signed up to receive installations so far.
Separately, a council member announced the city's monthly food distribution was rescheduled to 1 p.m. today because of the weather and encouraged residents in need to attend.
