Fayette County approves bat-removal invoices for courthouse and memorial building

Commissioners asked whether the county should start budgeting for recurring remediation. One member said the costs could fall under professional services line items and cautioned that deferred maintenance can lead to larger bills: "If you ignore something for 50 years, this is what you get," a commissioner said. Staff also warned about fungal hazards in guano that can damage lungs if not handled correctly.
The board moved to approve both invoices for the remediation work; the motion was seconded and carried with affirmative votes.
The county did not provide vendor names or contract numbers in the meeting record. The board did not set a recurring budget item at the meeting but discussed budgeting as a possibility for future cycles.
