Utah Openlands urges Emigration Canyon residents to help raise $1.5 million to protect 80 acres

He said an outstanding gap of roughly $60,000 would allow the project to proceed and that the families had given a deadline of March 31.
Barber said Utah Openlands has worked with local neighborhoods and families and invited residents to contact him directly to pledge. He closed by offering to answer questions about the conservation strategy and funding timeline.
The council did not take action on the request during the meeting. Barber’s appearance was recorded during the public‑comment portion of the agenda; the project’s next steps will depend on whether additional local pledges arrive before the stated deadline.
