Carrie also reported adjustments to revenues and expenditures tied to settlements and said she increased the county attorney's budget after a contract increase and raised building-permit revenue and inspector wage lines to reflect heavier activity.
Staff and commissioners discussed the Tourism, Recreation and Trails (TRT) fund and the county shooting range. Carrie noted the budget included a $10,000 transfer for the shooting range but that only about $6,000 had been transferred last year; she also said the shooting-range fund looked to be substantially negative but had received donations. "There is a $5,600 from the county general fund that goes to the shooting range," a staff member said when clarifying how the fund has been supported.
Commissioners asked procedural questions about budget packet pages and line-item coding; staff clarified that wages and benefits for buildings and grounds are budgeted directly to wage lines rather than as a separate transfer. Packet-printing issues were noted and staff advised commissioners where to find the amended pages in the packet for review.
The moderator emphasized that the hearing was informational and that no formal vote was taken: the draft adjustments and the proposed 2026 budget will be placed on next week's agenda for formal approval, with the county able to make budget adjustments during the year if data justify changes.
