The Daggett County Commission voted to approve a purchase request of $8,500 for a regional rescue/search-and-rescue certification class conducted by Chad Smith of the Magic Valley Rescue Team. "Can I make a motion to approve the purchase request for $8,500 with the chosen vendor being Chad Smith, Magic Valley Rescue Team?" Speaker 3 asked before moving the motion; Speaker 1 seconded and the board recorded affirmative responses that led to approval.
Speaker 5 had earlier explained the class logistics: the training accommodates 20 people, the total vendor quote is $8,500 and a $5,000 SHSP (grant) reimbursement will cover part of the cost. Speaker 5 said the remaining roughly $3,500 would be split among participating entities and billed per person afterward, which Speaker 5 estimated would be about $170 per attendee depending on final participation. "This is a regional, class they're putting on ... That total is 84, 85, somewhere around $8,500," Speaker 5 said during the procurement discussion.
Speaker 3 also moved to accept the county’s cash summary and accounts receivable report for all bank accounts as of March 7, 2025; Speaker 1 seconded and aye responses were recorded. The commission recessed shortly afterward to follow up on signature paperwork and other logistics.
No formal amendments to the purchase request were made during the meeting and the commission did not withhold approval pending additional documentation; the clerk was asked to provide a clean copy of the purchase request for signature after the meeting.
