Chair opened a public agenda item introduced as Daniel Anderson with Meadow Ward, who asked the council to consider a single lump-sum donation to support the ward’s community events, including an Easter egg hunt, a July 24 celebration, a fall harvest festival and a Santa Claus gift distribution. Anderson said the ward spent about $4,700 on those events last year and requested a simplified, single payment to reduce repeated visits to the council.
Council members reviewed the town’s historical practice: they have capped Easter support at $300, allocated roughly $1,500 to the July 24 celebration in prior years, and used a mix of town line-item support and pass-through reimbursements tied to tourism receipts and a UAMPS banner sponsorship. Town staff said some reimbursements require receipts for tourism matching while the UAMPS banner effort is handled directly.
After discussion, Chair moved to approve $1,500 from town funds for “community events and activities” and to process any eligible pass-through reimbursements as receipts are submitted. Unidentified Speaker 3 seconded; the council approved the motion by voice vote. The council asked the Ward to gather and submit receipts required for tourism reimbursement and documentation for UAMPS pass-throughs so staff can cut the check and process additional funds if tourism reimbursements arrive.
The action taken was a budget allocation from the town’s events line item and an instruction to staff to coordinate reimbursement processing with the Ward. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded at the meeting.
