Property owners ask county to remove erroneous county‑road markings from GIS

He asked county staff to “take it off” the GIS if it is not an actual county road. Commissioners and staff recommended a review of the adopted county road map, recorded plats/mylar and easement records to determine whether the GIS depiction reflects a recorded road or a mapping artifact.
County staff noted that if roads are recorded on a plat they would require a vacation process, and if they are not recorded the county has statutory abandonment procedures to remove non‑county roads from its system. The RS 2477 registry and the county road map were mentioned as sources to verify historic rights of way.
Commissioners directed staff to research the issue with Sean and Cordell (GIS/road staff referenced) and report back. The county did not make an immediate policy change at the meeting; staff said they expect to update GIS within the next six months as part of a broader GIS refresh.
