Staff reported auditors are not finding evidence of fraud, waste or abuse in the town’s records and that a rough draft of the audit findings will be made final by the next meeting. "We're not finding any fraud, waste, abuse, discrepancy," Speaker 3 said when relaying the auditors’ preliminary findings.
The auditors asked the town to add specific line items that were missing from the current fee schedule. "Our fee schedule didn't include any of the cemetery fees," Speaker 4 said, and staff also identified that park reservation fees were absent. Council members discussed also adding garbage and business license fees to the schedule and asked colleagues to review the fee list and propose any additional items for inclusion.
Staff offered to circulate a copy of the draft schedule to council members and follow up at the next meeting with an updated fee schedule. No specific fee amounts were provided on the record; council members asked staff to identify and add the missing fee entries for formal adoption at a future meeting.
The council also received an update that the final audit copy is expected for the next month's meeting.
