The Daggett County Municipal Building Authority on Aug. 12 approved a $19,090.05 construction change order for the Daggett County Health & Community Center to address groundwater discovered during excavation.
Speaker 3 moved to approve the change order, which Speaker 1 read into the record as an increase to address unexpected water in the excavation and a modification to the substructure including an additional foot in the elevator pit. Speaker 4 described the change as "time sensitive" and said the first load of required substrate material was on site that day.
The panel recorded 'Aye' votes and approved the measure. The change order also extends the contract time by three days. Speaker 1 confirmed the additional cost will be charged to the project's contingency budget.
Board members discussed approving work verbally now so construction can continue and then formally ratifying the paperwork at next week’s meeting. "I'm probably okay if you guys want to verbally direct work to continue in anticipation of approving that next week," Speaker 4 said during the meeting.
Next steps include routing the signed change‑order documents through the clerk's office and formal ratification on the MBA agenda at the next meeting.
