Peterson described R6’s regional programming and support for municipalities — noting the organization’s multiple contracts and programs across the region — and said registration details for the summit would be distributed by email. “We’ve got 55 contracts that we’re working with state, federal,” Peterson said while summarizing R6’s work. She emphasized the summit’s focus on land use, legal and budget topics tailored to rural municipalities and staff.
During public comment, a resident identified as Helen urged the council to reduce polarizing rhetoric in town communications and to take extra steps to invite all residents to meetings so differing perspectives are represented. Helen said the town felt divided and asked that outreach include all residents so “we're not got this big division in this town.” She also questioned a newsletter item about who disabled a sign, saying the newsletter’s account didn’t match her recollection.
The R6 update included an invitation to the May 6 regional growth summit; the council thanked Peterson for the information and encouraged staff and members to consider attending.
