Copperton council approves minutes and attorney bill, schedules hazard mitigation and code items, then moved into closed session

At the start of the meeting the Copperton Town Council approved its consent agenda. A motion to approve the meeting minutes from July 16, 2025, carried by voice vote after an affirmative response to 'All in favor.' The council also approved a bill for attorney fees in the amount of $1,899.50; the motion to approve the payment was moved and seconded and declared approved.
During the meeting the council directed staff to place the multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan adoption on the next agenda and asked the municipal services district and county staff to provide a template resolution. Town attorney Nathan presented a draft restatement of Titles I and II of the municipal code and asked council members to review and comment before subsequent meetings.
At the end of the public portion the council voted to enter a closed session to discuss the character and professional competence or health of an individual, pending or imminent litigation, purchase/exchange or lease of property, and employment of security personnel; the motion was moved by Nathan, seconded, and carried by voice vote.
What’s next: Several items were referred to future agendas (hazard mitigation plan adoption; code restatement sections; deer management) and the council entered a closed session immediately following the public portion of the meeting.
