Gunnison council honors state-champion swim team; coach and athletes speak

The Gunnison City Council opened its Feb. 19 meeting by honoring the local swim team after a successful season that included regional and state-level competition.
Coach Jeremy introduced team members and the council invited swimmers to share their favorite events and recent results. Student-athletes who spoke included Hadley Childs, Aidan Donaldson, Adam Jackson and Gray Anderson. Swimmers described qualifying for state events, relay performances and the team’s win in the 'Battle for the Paddle' competition against neighboring schools.
Council members praised the athletes and coach, thanked them for representing the community, and invited the team to take photographs for the city’s Facebook page.
