The MSD requested a tentative budget submission by February and council members discussed a target for approving a tentative budget in April with final adoption by June.
Council discussed park improvements in detail. The engineering manager, Tamara Woodland, described storm-drain rebudgeting and a Copperton storm-drain Phase 2 request and said contractor restart dates are pending. Members reviewed a Roth Landscaping quote to replace sprinkler heads and related work; the number captured in the record is $7,430. Council asked staff to hold a $100,000 placeholder for park improvements in the next budget cycle to cover items such as sprinkler work, pavilion electricity and basketball-court updates.
Council also discussed funding sources and supports: the town's beer-tax revenue was described as routed to the UPE for public-safety uses and MSD staff noted they are hiring a grant writer who could help secure outside funds for park and pavilion projects.
